In a move aimed at enhancing land management in Mineral County, Nevada, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has unveiled a Proposed Decision regarding a new Environmental Assessment (EA). This decision focuses on the issuance of a grazing permit across four key allotments: Basalt, Belleville, Little Huntoon, and McBride Flat, all situated on BLM-managed lands.
The initiative seeks to authorize cattle grazing on these allotments, introducing a new permit that will oversee grazing activities and support related infrastructure and habitat protection measures. A two-year rotational grazing authorization is part of the plan, aimed at maintaining sustainable land use.
Among the developments planned are the construction of new range improvements, including corrals and cattleguards. Additionally, the project will implement habitat enhancement projects, such as creating riparian exclosures and addressing noxious weed proliferation.
