The Scrutiny Intensifies: Congressional Candidate David Flippo’s Alleged Missteps
The campaign of David Flippo, a congressional candidate in Nevada, is facing intensified scrutiny over accusations of misrepresenting military honors and financial discrepancies. Flippo has been criticized for allegedly inflating his military achievements and failing to meet financial disclosure requirements.
Allegations of Misrepresented Military Honors
Recent reports have surfaced detailing instances where Flippo purportedly claimed he received a Bronze Star “for Valor.” However, these claims have been challenged by veterans who assert the medal was not awarded for valor, as Flippo was not in a combat situation.
Feedback from Nevada veterans:
“He’s betraying the military, the rank and ribbon system, and so what else is he willing to betray? In other words, if that’s not important to see to it that’s correct, what else would he betray?”
“To the extent that is what happened here, I think that should concern Nevada voters…beyond offensive.”
“This is a big deal. Getting a Bronze Star means you are just so much above and beyond that you are the elite amongst the elite. But then to lie and say it was with valor…it disrespects everybody that actually did put their life on the line.”
Several media outlets, including KTVN and KOLO, have reported on veterans demanding Flippo return their campaign donations following these allegations.
Unresolved Financial Disclosures
In addition to the stolen valor accusations, Flippo’s campaign finances have come under question. Despite promises, his campaign has yet to file the required financial disclosure forms with the House of Representatives, which should have been submitted in May 2023. Mother Jones reports that the campaign is still tying up loose ends on this front.
According to the Nevada Independent, there is uncertainty regarding how Flippo managed to loan over $2.4 million to his congressional efforts over the past two election cycles. Moreover, KNPR highlights that Flippo’s debts range between $580,000 and $1.2 million, largely due to credit lines funding his campaign.

The controversies surrounding David Flippo continue to draw attention from media and constituents, raising questions about his credibility and transparency as a candidate.
