BLM Initiates Emergency Stabilization for Nevada Wildfire Recovery

Bureau of Land Management Takes Action for Post-Fire Recovery in Nevada

CARSON CITY, Nev. — In a significant move to restore public lands, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a Decision on a Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA) to carry out emergency stabilization and burned area rehabilitation (ES&R) on lands affected by the 2026 New Pass, Shoshone, and Blue Eagle wildfires. These areas, located within the Clan Alpine and New Pass ranges in Churchill County, Nevada, are set to undergo a series of rehabilitation measures aimed at reviving the natural and cultural resources.

The project entails a comprehensive plan that includes the seeding of beneficial grasses, shrubs, and forbs, the manual planting of sagebrush and other shrub species, and improvements to the rangeland and infrastructure. Additionally, the initiative will apply herbicide treatments to control noxious weeds and invasive annual grasses, while also ensuring the protection of cultural resources.

For those interested in more details, the Decision Record and DNA can be accessed at this link.
