Union County Intersection Set for Temporary Closure Amid Roundabout Construction
STALLINGS – A major intersection in Union County is scheduled for a temporary closure starting Monday. This initiative is part of a $1 million project by the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT), in collaboration with Charlotte’s Blythe Development Company, to transform the crossing into a roundabout.
The intersection at Lawyers Road and Emerald Lake Drive/Hawthorne Drive will be inaccessible for up to seven weeks to accommodate the construction of the roundabout.
Drivers will be guided by a marked detour that directs traffic from Lawyers Road W. to Stevens Mill Road, continuing onto Idlewild Road and Mill Grove Road, before looping back to Lawyers Road.
To minimize disruptions, any additional lane closures related to the project are planned to occur during off-peak hours in the morning and afternoon, as well as outside major holiday periods.
For continuous updates on travel conditions, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
