Governor Josh Stein Appoints Judges Regina Parker and K. Michelle Fletcher

Governor Josh Stein has made notable judicial appointments, impacting key regions and ensuring experienced leadership in the courts.

Regina Parker Appointed to Superior Court

Regina Parker has been appointed to the Superior Court for Judicial District 2, which includes Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell, and Washington counties. Her appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of the Honorable Wayland Sermons.

  • Parker has been a member of Judicial District 2 since 2001 and has held the position of Chief District Court Judge since 2018. She actively participates in several committees, including the Conference of Chief District Court Judges and the Tyrrell County Community Child Protection/Child Fatality Prevention Team. Additionally, she contributes to the East Carolina University Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and the Juvenile Crime Prevention Committees in Beaufort, Martin, and Washington counties. Parker earned her Bachelor of Science from East Carolina University and her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University.

K. Michelle Fletcher Joins District Court

K. Michelle Fletcher has been appointed to the District Court for Judicial District 24, serving Guilford County. She will fill the vacancy for the remainder of the year.

  • Fletcher has dedicated over 25 years to the judicial system in Guilford County. Her career path includes roles as Assistant District Attorney, District Court Judge, and Chief District Court Judge. Fletcher completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received her Juris Doctor from the North Carolina Central School of Law.

Governor Josh Stein expressed confidence in the appointments, stating, “These judges are both long-serving, which has prepared them well for the appointment. I look forward to Judge Parker’s leadership on the Superior Court and thank Judge Fletcher for her willingness to serve.”
