Renewable Energy Powers New Hydrogen Peroxide Facility in Arizona
CASA GRANDE, AZ (July 26, 2022) – Solvay has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art facility in Casa Grande, Arizona, designed to produce high-purity electronic grade hydrogen peroxide (eH2O2). This facility aims to support the burgeoning U.S. semiconductor manufacturing sector by transforming hydrogen peroxide into a premium-grade solution used for cleaning silicon wafers, a critical process in semiconductor production.
Solvay, recognized globally as a leader in hydrogen peroxide solutions, is also at the forefront of eH2O2 production technology. The upcoming Casa Grande facility will become Solvay’s seventh eH2O2 plant, reinforcing its strong presence in hydrogen peroxide manufacturing to meet advanced semiconductor fabrication requirements.
Ziad Haddad, North America Business Director, commented, We are excited to proceed with this project to supply the U.S. semiconductor market, including new manufacturing being built in the Phoenix area, using safe, clean and reliable technology.
He further acknowledged the support from local authorities, emphasizing the project’s potential to create valuable jobs and sustainable growth.
Arizona Commerce Authority President and CEO Sandra Watson remarked, Solvay’s sustainable chemical manufacturing facility is a valued addition to Arizona’s semiconductor industry.
She noted the plant’s role in strengthening Arizona’s semiconductor supply chain, expressing gratitude for Solvay’s investment in the state.
Pinal County is pleased to welcome Solvay and its significant investment and well-paying jobs to our region,
stated Jeffrey McClure, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. He highlighted the company’s contribution to Arizona’s semiconductor industry expansion and workforce preparation efforts.
Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland expressed enthusiasm, saying, We are excited to welcome Solvay to the City of Casa Grande.
He noted the alignment of Solvay’s sustainability and innovation goals with the city’s vision.
The new facility, situated on 25 acres in Casa Grande’s Central Arizona Commerce Park, is set to begin construction of its initial production line in 2023. Solvay plans future expansions based on customer demand. The project is expected to generate 30 full-time jobs and involves an annual investment exceeding $3 million, benefiting local businesses and communities.
In line with its Solvay One Planet sustainability roadmap, the facility will operate entirely on renewable electricity. The production equipment will utilize proven safe technology within a climate-controlled environment, reflecting practices established at Solvay’s other locations, such as its Houston, Texas site.
