Jacqueline’s Journey

Originally hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Jacqueline Villafana has deep roots in Des Moines, Iowa. A graduate of Urbandale High School, she continued her education at DMACC and later transferred to Drake University. Her heritage traces back to Celaya, Guanajuato, and Spanish was her first language. Jacqueline is the eldest among her siblings and works at Inmobiliaria Inc., a company dedicated to supporting Hispanic and Latino entrepreneurs.

Significance of Hispanic Heritage Month

For Jacqueline, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the significant contributions of Hispanics in shaping communities. It’s a celebration of achievements, culture, and the diverse experiences within the Hispanic community. “Most importantly, Hispanic Heritage Month reminds me to be proud of where I am from and to always strive to be better,” she shares.

Choosing Drake University

Choosing Drake University allowed Jacqueline to stay close to home while pursuing a quality education. She believes Drake offers the necessary opportunities and connections to prepare for a successful career. “If you put in the work, get involved, and take advantage of the opportunities Drake provides, you can leave fully prepared professionally,” she mentions.

The institution encourages involvement and networking, helping students like her grow both academically and personally. “Drake is preparing me for success beyond college,” she notes.
