As Labor Day approaches, Dallas residents can expect closures and modified schedules across various city facilities on Monday, September 7, 2026. Here’s what to know about city services during the holiday.
City Offices
All administrative offices of the City of Dallas will be closed for the Labor Day holiday.
3-1-1 Customer Help Line
While Water Customer Service will not be operational, 311 Customer Service Representatives will be available to handle urgent service-related calls, including issues like water main breaks, downed trees, signal lights, and animal control. Service requests can also be submitted through the online portal or via the Dallas 311 mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
Dallas Animal Services
While the administrative offices will be closed, the Dallas Animal Services shelter will operate during its regular hours. Animal Services Officers will be on hand to respond to resident requests via 3-1-1.
Municipal Court
The Municipal Court will not be open on Labor Day. However, full fine payments can be made at the Dallas Marshal’s Office located at 1600 Chestnut, Dallas, TX 75226, which is open 24/7. Payments can also be postmarked by mail or made online through the court’s website.
Sanitation
While the Sanitation administrative offices will be closed, all collection services, including recycling, garbage, and bulky items, will continue as scheduled. Dallas Water Utilities
Administrative and customer service offices for Dallas Water Utilities will be closed. For emergency services, residents should contact 3-1-1. Non-urgent requests can be made online or through the Dallas 311 app for iOS and Android.
Parks & Recreation
All administrative offices, recreation centers, and maintenance facilities under Dallas Park and Recreation will be closed.
Dallas Public Libraries
Library locations across Dallas will not be open, but residents can still access digital resources such as audiobooks, e-books, music, and magazines 24/7 via DallasLibrary.org.
Office of Arts and Culture
The Office of Arts and Culture, along with its cultural centers, will not be operational. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8. For more information, visit dallasculture.org.
