Major Roadway Revitalization Set for Roxboro Region
Residents and commuters in the Roxboro area can anticipate improved driving conditions as the N.C. Department of Transportation has sanctioned a substantial upgrade project. A $2.4 million contract has been awarded to Carolina Sunrock LLC, based in Raleigh, to enhance over 14 miles of local roadway.
The project will involve milling, resurfacing, and shoulder reconstruction along U.S. 158, spanning from John D. Winstead Road to the Caswell County line. Additionally, six secondary roads will also see improvements:
- Jim Morton Road from N.C. 49 to Union Grove Church Road
- Blalock Dairy Road from U.S. 158 to N.C. 49
- Hesters Store Road from N.C. 49 to Rolling Hills Road/Frank Whitfield Road
- West Morehead Street from North Madison Boulevard to North Main Street
- East Morehead Street from North Main Street to Foushee Street
- Loftis Loop at Todd Road
The work is scheduled to commence as early as late summer 2024, with an anticipated completion by fall 2025. For more details, view the project plans.
