NCDHHS Hosts Webinar on TCL Program and DOJ Compliance Updates

North Carolina’s TCL Program: A Webinar on Community Living Transitions

In an effort to keep the public informed on significant program updates, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is organizing a virtual webinar. This event will shed light on the Transitions to Community Living (TCL) program, as the department has been found in substantial compliance with its settlement agreement by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The TCL program is designed to assist adults with severe and persistent mental illness in transitioning from state psychiatric hospitals and adult care homes to community-based living. This initiative is a key component of North Carolina’s Olmstead Plan, which aims to enhance community inclusion for individuals facing mental health challenges, intellectual and developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and substance use disorders. NCDHHS continues to emphasize the importance of community integration, working alongside community members, providers, and advocates.
