A Sandwich with a Purpose: Flint Mayor’s New Culinary Creation Supports Domestic Violence Survivors

Hoffman’s Deco Deli & Cafe has introduced a special sandwich named after Mayor Sheldon Neeley, aiming to benefit a noble cause in the Flint community. The new culinary creation, the Mayor Neeley Signature Sandwich, is not just a treat for the taste buds but also a means to support the YWCA of Greater Flint’s domestic violence program.

At the launch event, Mayor Neeley was accompanied by Heath Hoffman, the deli’s owner, and Deandra Larkin, CEO of the YWCA of Greater Flint. Together, they highlighted the significance of this initiative in assisting domestic violence survivors.

The sandwich, crafted with turkey, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and honey Dijon on multigrain bread, promises to be a delicious addition to the menu. Mayor Neeley expressed his pride in the endeavor, stating, “I’m honored to have a sandwich named after me, but what makes this special is knowing that every sandwich purchased can help support the YWCA and its work with survivors of domestic violence.” He emphasized the importance of community solidarity, urging residents to participate in the initiative by enjoying the sandwich.
