Florida’s Back-to-School Tax Break: A Month of Savings for Families

Panama City Beach, Fla.— With the school year approaching, Governor Ron DeSantis has announced a significant opportunity for Florida families to save on educational expenses. Starting August 1 and lasting through August 31, the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will allow for tax-free purchases on a range of school supplies, clothing, and technology.

Governor DeSantis emphasized the initiative’s role in easing financial pressures: “Proud to deliver additional sales tax holidays, including the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday that begins on August 1. With the new school year just around the corner, Florida families can save on back-to-school shopping during the tax holiday for the entire month of August,” he stated. “By cutting taxes, empowering parents, and growing our economy, we’re making it easier for people to live, work, and thrive in the Free State of Florida.”

Florida continues to uphold a strong economic standing, with a low unemployment rate and a AAA credit rating. This year’s fiscal policy includes a $2 billion tax relief plan, part of which is the $450 million savings from the sales tax holidays aimed at supporting residents.
