Florida State Parks Offer Free Admission for Memorial Day Weekend

In a gesture of remembrance and appreciation, Florida State Parks will waive admission fees during Memorial Day weekend, spanning May 23-25. This initiative aims to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in service to the United States as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

“As visitors enjoy the holiday weekend, Memorial Day is also a time to pause and reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country,” stated Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Alexis A. Lambert. “Florida State Parks offer meaningful places to connect with the history and natural beauty that define our state.”

The state parks in Florida are custodians of some of the country’s most treasured natural and historical sites. These include pristine springs, beaches, trails, rivers, and landmarks that highlight Florida’s contribution to America’s narrative.

Floridians and tourists alike have the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities such as hiking, paddling, fishing, wildlife viewing, and camping across diverse natural environments throughout the state.

Beyond their natural allure, Florida State Parks are also home to numerous cultural and historical assets, encompassing forts, battlefields, archaeological sites, and historic landscapes that echo Florida’s rich historical tapestry.
