Florida State Parks Offer Free Admission for America’s 250th Celebration
In a nod to the nation’s 250th anniversary, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is inviting both residents and tourists to explore the Sunshine State’s expansive natural beauty. As part of this celebration, all Florida State Parks will offer free admission from July 3 to July 5, 2026.
Florida’s state parks stand out for their diverse recreational offerings. Spanning various landscapes, these parks provide opportunities for activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, and wildlife viewing. Additionally, they house cultural and historical sites including forts, battlefields, and archaeological landmarks.
“While every July 4th is special, we recognize this Independence Day is a significant moment in our nation’s history,” said DEP Secretary Alexis A. Lambert. “I invite all Floridians, their friends and their family to our state parks to enjoy the outdoors, make new memories and support our treasured public lands.”
Recognized for excellence, Florida’s state park system is the only one to have won the NRPA’s National Gold Medal Award four times. This accolade underscores Florida’s dedication to balancing the protection of vital natural resources with public access and environmental stewardship. Furthermore, these parks play a critical role in local economies and communities, serving as the cornerstone of Florida’s ecotourism sector. In the last fiscal year alone, Florida State Parks attracted more than 28 million visitors, generating an estimated $3.6 billion in economic impact statewide.
