Flint Allocates $1M in Opioid Funds to Support Local Organizations

Flint Allocates Opioid Settlement Funds to Bolster Community Initiatives

Amid growing efforts to address pressing community needs, the City of Flint has earmarked significant financial support for local organizations. During a recent press conference at Flint City Hall, Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley revealed the beneficiaries of the city’s opioid settlement funding initiative.

The initiative sees an allocation of $1 million from opioid settlement funds to the Greater Flint Health Coalition (GFHC). This funding is designed to empower local organizations with grants ranging from $20,000 to $150,000, supporting projects that tackle diverse community challenges.

The selected initiatives focus on key areas such as youth services and financial stability, aiming to fortify individuals, families, and neighborhoods across Flint. These efforts underscore the city’s commitment to addressing a broad spectrum of community priorities.

Mayor Neeley emphasized the transformative potential of the funding, stating, “Opioid settlement funds give us an opportunity to invest in our community and support organizations doing important work to meet local needs. We want these resources to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Flint residents. Our commitment doesn’t end with the announcement of these awards. The City will continue working alongside GFHC throughout the year to support these organizations and help their initiatives succeed.”

The partnership between the City and GFHC is set to continue, providing ongoing backing to the funded organizations. This collaboration aims to enhance the success of their initiatives and amplify their positive impact within the community.
