Flint Announces Ratified Labor Agreements with Two Local Unions

Flint’s Labor Relations See Progress with New Union Agreements

The City of Flint has made significant strides in labor relations following the ratification of agreements with two key unions. These developments were shared in a press conference on Monday, where city officials and union leaders gathered to discuss the details.

In a move that underscores Flint’s commitment to strengthening its workforce relations, Local 1600, the city’s largest union, and the Flint Police Sergeants Union have both ratified new labor agreements. These agreements signify a collective effort to enhance collaboration and build a more resilient city workforce.

Mayor Sheldon Neeley emphasized the crucial role city employees play in serving Flint’s residents, stating, “Our employees are the backbone of City government, and the work they do every day is essential to serving Flint residents.” He further added, “These agreements reflect the importance of working together, respecting the voices of our employees and building a stronger City workforce. I appreciate the members of both unions for their participation in this process, and we look forward to bringing these agreements before the City Council.”

Accompanied by union leadership, Mayor Neeley highlighted the significance of these agreements and the ongoing collaboration between the city and its workforce. The ratified agreements are now set to be reviewed by the Flint City Council, marking a pivotal step in the city’s approach to employee relations.
