Opportunity Opens for New License Plate Agency in Washington County
ROCKY MOUNT – A new opportunity has arisen for those interested in operating a license plate agency (LPA) in Washington County, as the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) is inviting applications for a commissioned contractor position.
In North Carolina, while the NCDMV is responsible for overseeing LPAs, these agencies are typically run by private enterprises or local government entities. The previous agency located at 101 Forest Road, Suite C, in Plymouth ceased operations on March 10, 2022, following the conclusion of its contract.
According to NCDMV policy, applications are welcomed either when a contract expires or ends, or when a new agency is deemed necessary in a county. Past applicants are encouraged to submit fresh applications for consideration.
Those interested must submit their completed applications to NCDMV by August 2. Necessary forms, including Form MVR-93I, Form MVR-93B, or Form MVR-93M, are accessible on the Connect NCDOT website. For inquiries, applicants can reach out at 919-615-8521.
License plate agencies provide essential services such as vehicle registration, title transactions, license plate renewals, and issuing replacement tags and duplicate registrations. At present, North Carolina has 123 operational license plate agencies.
