Wisconsin Nonprofits Get Security Boost with Federal Grant Opportunity
In a bid to bolster the security measures of vulnerable organizations, Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) has announced that nonprofit organizations within the state can now apply for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). This federal initiative targets nonprofits that may be susceptible to terrorist threats due to their fundamental beliefs, ideologies, or missions.
The NSGP, overseen by WEM, aims to support nonprofit facilities across Wisconsin by funding security-related projects. These projects can include security planning, conducting exercises, training programs, hiring contracted security personnel, and acquiring or installing security equipment.
Eligibility for the grant requires applicants to demonstrate their organization’s risk of a terrorist attack based on their ideology, beliefs, or mission. A comprehensive vulnerability or risk assessment must accompany applications, highlighting existing security gaps, potential threats, and the consequences of inaction.
The application submission deadline for the 2025 NSGP is January 15, 2026. Completed applications should be directed to NSGP@widma.gov.
Detailed guidance from FEMA and WEM on applying for this grant can be found online at https://wem.wi.gov/nsgp/.
