Wisconsin Nonprofit Security Grant Program Now Open for Applications

Security Grants Available for Wisconsin Nonprofits Facing Terrorist Threats

In an effort to bolster nonprofit organizations against potential terrorist threats, Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) has opened the application period for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). This initiative is designed to assist nonprofits that might be at risk due to their ideologies, beliefs, or missions.

The NSGP, a federal grant managed by WEM, aims to enhance the security of nonprofit facilities across Wisconsin. Organizations can use these funds for a variety of security-related measures, including planning, training, exercises, hiring security personnel, and installing security equipment.

To qualify for the grant, nonprofits must demonstrate their vulnerability to terrorist attacks based on their core values or missions. Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive vulnerability and risk assessment, highlighting existing security gaps, potential threats, and possible consequences of inaction.

The deadline for submitting applications for the 2026 NSGP is July 15, 2026. Completed applications should be sent to NSGP@widma.gov.

Detailed guidance from FEMA and WEM, including application requirements, can be found online at https://wem.wi.gov/tag/nonprofit-security-grant/.

For additional information on the application process, webinars are available. These informational sessions do not require pre-registration. Interested parties can access them by visiting https://wem.wi.gov/nsgp/.
