New Grant Aims to Enhance County Preparedness for Hazardous Material Incidents
Counties are set to benefit from a new grant designed to bolster their emergency planning capabilities. This funding initiative focuses on aiding local governments in conducting commodity flow studies, which play a crucial role in managing risks associated with the transportation of hazardous materials.
The primary objective of the grant is to empower county emergency management programs to improve their strategies for handling potential accidents and incidents involving hazardous materials. By facilitating comprehensive commodity flow studies, counties can gain valuable insights into the movement of these materials through their jurisdictions, allowing for more informed and effective emergency response planning.
Eligibility
This grant opportunity is exclusively available to County Emergency Management programs. They are encouraged to apply on behalf of Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) for either individual or multi-county commodity flow studies.
Deadline to Apply
Interested county programs must submit their applications by Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
