The NCAA has turned down Virginia’s request for a seventh year of eligibility for quarterback Chandler Morris, despite his remarkable achievement of leading the Cavaliers to an 11-win season in his debut year. Morris’ father, Chad Morris, stated they are considering all possible avenues for appeal.
In a positive development for Virginia, UAB transfer running back Solomon Beebe has committed to the Cavaliers. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back amassed 1,222 all-purpose yards, ranking sixth in the American Conference last fall. Beebe’s performance included 338 rushing yards, six touchdowns, and an impressive 6-yard average per carry. Additionally, he recorded 31 receptions for 284 yards, and his kickoff return average of 26.1 yards ranked 13th in the FBS for 2025.
Adding to their roster, former Georgia State safety Jaylen Jones has signed with UVA, as confirmed to the Charlottesville Daily Progress. Jones was recognized with an All-Sun Belt honorable mention, having recorded 66 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, an interception, a pass breakup, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery this season.

NSU Women and Men Shine at Virginia Beach Event
The Norfolk State women’s team made a significant impact at the VCU Ram Indoor Invite in Virginia Beach, achieving 14 top-10 finishes. Notably, they dominated the podium in the women’s pole vault event.
Freshman Emma Svetiev clinched first place by clearing 3.15 meters (approximately 10 feet, 4 inches). Hunter Lexa secured second place with a 2.70-meter jump, and Fabienne Renelus finished third at 2.55 meters.
Brooklyn Robinson showcased her talent by winning the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries and finishing second in the finals with a time of 8.38 seconds. She also came sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.69 seconds, having placed second in the preliminaries (7.63).
In the 400 meters, freshman Jada Arrington earned a bronze medal, clocking in at 58.52 seconds.
The NSU men’s team also excelled, securing 14 top-10 finishes, including five podium positions.
Lavontay Bond’s first-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 48.69 seconds was a highlight for the men’s team. Additionally, Landon Walker finished second in the pole vault with a height of 4.20 meters (about 13 feet, 9 inches), and Atrell Williams took second place in the shot put with a throw of 16.39 meters. Julian Ward and Jaymes Saunders achieved third-place finishes in the 300 meters (34.09) and the 60-meter hurdles (7.95), respectively.

William & Mary Teams Dominate Quad Meet
William & Mary demonstrated their prowess at the quad meet held at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex, with both the men’s and women’s teams going unbeaten.
The Tribe men’s team secured a decisive victory over Old Dominion, 198-64. Meanwhile, the W&M women’s team triumphed over ODU 222-40, East Carolina 208-86, and Richmond 211-83.
Lauren Tucker’s performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle, completed in 10 minutes, 0.02 seconds, marked the second-fastest time in W&M women’s history. Freshman Tyler Barritt made his mark in the men’s 1,000 free with a time of 9:21.72, placing him fourth in the program’s all-time rankings.
The W&M women’s 200 medley relay team, consisting of Julie Addison, Lindsay Juhlin, Lauren Klinefelter, and Caroline Burgeston, won in 1:40.15, the eighth-fastest time in the program’s history. Both men’s and women’s teams also claimed victory in the 400 free relays with times of 3:01.26 and 3:23.17, respectively.

Virginia Tech and North Carolina State Secure Victories
No. 7 Virginia Tech established a strong lead early on and managed to hold off No. 14 Pittsburgh, winning 18-15.
Dramatic Pin Secures Win for NC State Over UVA
No. 9 North Carolina State (9-3) overcame Virginia 19-17 in Raleigh during the ACC opener for both teams. The Cavaliers (8-4) initially led through nine weight classes until a decisive pin altered the match’s outcome.
UVA took a 14-3 lead with victories from Rocco Hayes (125 pounds), Marlon Yarbrough (133), Gable Porter (141), and Colton Washleski (157), ranked 29th nationally in his weight class.
Steven Burrell Jr.’s victory at 197, where he defeated 25th-ranked Patrick Brophy 11-8, gave UVA a 17-13 lead. However, NC State’s heavyweight Isaac Trumble, ranked second nationally, pinned Brenan Morgan in 3:57 to secure six points and the win for the Wolfpack.
