Parking Restrictions Expand Around Missing Savannah Guthrie’s Mother’s Home

Media Restrictions Tighten Around Missing Woman’s Home Amid Public Outcry

In Tucson, Arizona, the area surrounding the residence of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, has become a focal point of media attention following her disappearance. The influx of journalists and social media streamers has prompted officials to expand parking restrictions after neighbors voiced concerns over road congestion, trespassing, and littering.

Pima County authorities attempted to manage traffic by implementing a one-way flow on the street outside Guthrie’s home, but the measure proved ineffective. As a result, stricter parking regulations will be enforced starting Thursday. While media personnel can still access the area, they must park further away and use drop-off points to enter the neighborhood. Violations of the new rules may result in a $250 fine.

Residents’ reactions are mixed, with some appreciating the widespread attention to the case, while others have resorted to placing traffic cones and signs on their properties to deter intrusions. The presence of tents, satellite trucks, and generators has raised safety concerns and added to the congestion.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home near Tucson on January 31 and was reported missing the following day. Authorities suspect she was abducted or taken against her will, although little evidence has been publicly disclosed beyond the discovery of her blood on the front porch.

The search has not been limited to officials alone. Volunteers have continued to search, despite requests from the sheriff’s department for individuals to refrain from independent searches. A group recently found a black backpack, but it did not match the one seen in surveillance footage of a masked individual at Guthrie’s home on the night she vanished.

In addition to the media and search volunteers, supporters of the Guthrie family have been visiting the home to leave flowers, yellow ribbons, crosses, and prayers, showing solidarity and hope for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.
