As snow is expected to blanket Hampton Roads once again, various localities are adjusting their schedules to ensure safety and continuity. From virtual learning adaptations to delayed openings, here’s how different counties are responding to the impending weather conditions.
Accomack County
All Public schools will transition to a virtual learning format for students. Employees are to follow code 1 protocol.
Gloucester County
Public schools have announced a 2-hour delay for Monday. Authorities will reassess the situation by 7 a.m. to make further decisions.
Mathews County
Public schools will remain closed on Monday due to the weather forecast.
New Kent County
With weather disruptions anticipated, Public schools will open 2 hours later than usual on Monday.
Northampton County
In response to the snow, Public schools are closed, but students will have a virtual learning day. All activities scheduled for the afternoon and evening are canceled. School offices and central office buildings will not open to staff, except for essential personnel who must report as needed. Those on 11- and 12-month contracts should consult with supervisors for possible remote work tasks.
York County
To accommodate for the weather, Public schools and school offices will commence operations 2 hours later than usual. Essential staff are to follow instructions from their supervisors. A follow-up assessment will occur by 7:30 a.m. to determine any additional changes.
