As Juneteenth approaches, a number of public services in Dallas will observe the holiday on Friday, June 19, 2026, resulting in the closure of several city facilities. Here is a breakdown of how services will be impacted during this time.
City Operations
All city administrative offices will not be operational on Juneteenth. Residents are advised to plan accordingly for any city-related business.
Library Services
Library branches across Dallas will remain closed. However, digital resources such as audiobooks, ebooks, and music streaming will remain accessible at DallasLibrary.org. The library emphasizes that “The Dallas Public Library is always open!”
Recreational Facilities
Recreation centers, including administrative and maintenance offices, will not be open to the public.
Arts and Culture
Details regarding the Office of Arts and Culture’s schedule are yet to be determined.
Animal Services
While administrative offices will be closed, the animal shelter will operate under normal hours. Animal services officers will continue to respond to service requests through the 3-1-1 system.
311 Customer Service
Service representatives will be available to handle calls related to emergencies such as water main breaks and animal control. For non-emergency requests, residents can use the online portal or download the Dallas 311 mobile app on iOS or Android.
Public Safety
The police and fire rescue services will maintain normal operations, although their administrative offices will be closed.
Court and Detention Services
The Municipal Courts Building will be closed, though payments can be mailed or made online at dallascityhall.com. The Dallas Marshal’s Office will continue to process payments and bonds 24/7 at 1600 Chestnut St., Dallas.
Sanitation Services

Dallas Water Utilities
