In recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, many City of Dallas facilities will be observing holiday closures on Monday, October 12, 2026. Here’s how various city services will be impacted and how residents can access essential resources.
City Offices
The City of Dallas will shut down all administrative offices for the day.
3-1-1 Customer Help Line
Residents can still report urgent service issues such as water main disruptions, fallen trees, and traffic signal outages by calling 311. While Water Customer Service will not be available, non-urgent service requests can be submitted online or through the Dallas 311 app for iOS and Android devices.
Dallas Animal Services
While the administrative offices will remain closed, the animal shelter will continue to operate during standard hours. Animal Services Officers will handle service requests through 311 as usual.
Municipal Court
The Municipal Court will not operate on Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
Sanitation Services
Sanitation offices will observe the holiday closure, but garbage, recycling, and bulky item pickups will proceed as planned. The McCommas Bluff Landfill and transfer stations will also remain open for regular hours. More disposal information is available at dsan.us/disposalinfo.
Dallas Water Utilities
Administrative and customer service offices will be closed. For emergencies, contact 311. Non-emergencies can be addressed online or via the Dallas 311 app on iOS and Here
