Advancing Health in Flint
This initiative is strategically aligned with the Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative (CSSI), which aims to improve cancer outcomes by facilitating access to early detection services. By providing advanced screening technologies in local neighborhoods, residents can detect cancer at an initial phase, increasing the effectiveness of treatment options.
Mayor Sheldon Neeley expressed the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Those who live here in the city of Flint know what it means to band together and help our neighbors, and that’s what this partnership does. It helps build the capacity to grow our ability to address the health needs in this segment of our community, improving the quality of life for residents today and strengthening the health of future generations.”
Community Participation
The event invites community members, along with their family and friends, to take part in this health initiative. Participants must be at least 35 years of age and not pregnant to join the activities.
Through this concerted effort, Flint residents will gain access to premium cancer screening services and necessary follow-up care. This endeavor not only aims to bolster community trust but also seeks to advance health equity within the city.
