Flint’s FY2027 Budget: A Step Toward Progress and Stability

In a move aimed at ensuring the sustained growth and stability of Flint, the city’s FY2027 budget has been approved, marking a significant milestone for local governance and community services. Mayor Sheldon Neeley emphasized the importance of this development in a recent statement.

“The approval of the FY2027 budget represents an important step forward for the City of Flint and the residents we serve,” said Mayor Neeley. The budget is a culmination of extensive planning and a testament to the city’s dedication to prudent financial management, focusing on services and programs that are vital to the community.

With the Charter deadline met, the city has ensured a seamless continuation of operations, securing the resources needed to maintain essential services. This includes bolstering public safety, enhancing neighborhood conditions, and expanding opportunities for residents.

Notably, this is the seventh consecutive balanced budget submitted under Mayor Neeley’s administration, highlighting a consistent commitment to sound fiscal management. “Even as communities across the country face economic uncertainty, Flint remains committed to maintaining a strong financial foundation while making strategic investments that improve quality of life and position our city for long-term success,” he stated.

Mayor Neeley also acknowledged the efforts of the City Council in completing the budget process, underscoring a shared dedication to serving the community despite occasional differences in opinion. “While we may not always agree on every aspect of the budget process, we share a common goal of serving the people of Flint. The adoption of this budget allows us to move forward together and continue building on the progress our city has made,” he noted.
