Record Number of Students Apply to UVA’s Early Action for Class of 2030
This year, the University of Virginia has seen an unprecedented surge in early action applications for the Class of 2030. The admissions office has extended offers to a significant number of candidates, marking a milestone in the university’s admissions history.
Out of the approximately 57,500 applicants, UVA has invited 7,151 prospective students to join its upcoming class. These decisions were communicated to the applicants on Friday evening, as reported by preliminary data from the university’s Office of Admission.
The application pool comprised nearly 13,500 Virginia residents, with 3,071 of them receiving admission offers. In contrast, over 44,000 applications were submitted by students from outside Virginia, resulting in 4,080 offers extended to out-of-state candidates.
The Office of Admission noted that 8,480 applicants have been deferred to the regular action cycle, which serves as the third and final phase of the admissions process. Those students can expect to receive their decisions by April 1.
Dean of Admission Greg Roberts expressed his gratitude towards the applicants, stating, “Applying to college requires both commitment and courage, and we are thankful to every student who applied to UVA in our early action round.”
