University of Virginia’s Dylan Dietrich Climbs to the Top of College Tennis Rankings
Achieving the top spot in college tennis is no small feat, but Dylan Dietrich has managed to do just that. The University of Virginia junior has now claimed the No. 1 ranking in singles, a position he secured by defeating Trevor Svajda of Southern Methodist University. The match, held at the Boar’s Head Resort, saw Dietrich overcome a first-set loss to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Dietrich, who previously partnered with teammate Måns Dahlberg to win the NCAA doubles championship in the fall, is now the third player in the history of UVA’s program to be ranked No. 1 in both singles and doubles. He joins the ranks of Somdev Devvarman and Jarmere Jenkins, who achieved this milestone in 2007 and 2013, respectively.

Originating from Switzerland, Dietrich’s recent accomplishments also earned him the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week award, marking his second time receiving the honor this season and the fourth in his career. His rise to the top of the rankings comes as UVA’s team is ranked third in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.
Looking ahead, Dietrich and the Cavaliers are set to face tough competition as they prepare for matches at the University of California, Berkeley, and No. 21 Stanford University. Their upcoming home game against Duke University on March 13 at the Boar’s Head is open to the public, offering an opportunity for fans to witness elite college tennis firsthand.
