LANSING, Mich. – In a significant move for economic growth in Genesee County, Miller Industries is set to launch a major expansion project in Fenton, Michigan. With backing from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), this initiative involves a $43 million capital investment, promising to create at least 167 well-paying jobs.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “This announcement by Miller Industries will bring hundreds of good paying, local jobs to Michigan.” The governor emphasized that this $43 million project is a testament to the state’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. “I’ll keep going everywhere and working with anyone to help families and business owners ‘make it’ in Michigan,” she added.
Matt McCauley, Senior Vice President of Regional Development at MEDC, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. “We are delighted by Miller Industries’ announcement to expand operations in Fenton, bringing nearly 170 high-quality jobs to the community,” McCauley said. He noted that this investment underscores the company’s dedication to the region, reflecting the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit that drives Michigan’s economy forward.
Chad Miller, Co-CEO of Miller Industries, shared his perspective on the expansion, remarking, “This project marks another great step in our continued partnership with the State of Michigan.” Miller emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and job creation in strengthening Michigan’s manufacturing future.
Tyler Rossmaessler, Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, praised the expansion, noting its potential to enhance the region’s economic landscape. “This new expansion will bring more jobs and investment to our region and help drive us toward our Forward Together vision of becoming a top five county in Michigan by 2040,” Rossmaessler stated.
Vince Lorraine, Supervisor of Fenton Township, expressed appreciation for Miller Industries’ ongoing investments. “Their latest expansion will add substantial manufacturing and office capacity and generate hundreds of quality jobs,” Lorraine commented, highlighting the long-term benefits for the local community.
Miller Industries, founded in 2014, specializes in modular building systems, including HVAC applications, and plans to construct a new 270,000-square-foot building. This facility aims to cater to high-growth sectors such as semiconductors and electrical substations.
The expansion, part of the company’s strategy to meet rising customer needs, is expected to lead to $43 million in capital investment and 167 new jobs offering competitive wages. The starting wage of $25 per hour is significantly higher than the regional median wage of $21.58.
To support this expansion, Miller Industries received a $1 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program. The project will bolster the manufacturing supply chain while adhering to environmentally friendly practices, supporting key Michigan industries like automotive and technology.
The Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance has pledged support through talent recruitment and permit processing, while the Charter Township of Fenton has provided a PA 198 tax abatement valued at $6 million for up to 12 years.
