Liz Kennedy Walsh Returns to Villanova University as Vice President for Communications and Marketing
VILLANOVA, Pa. (April 28, 2026)— Villanova University is set to welcome back one of its own, as Liz Kennedy Walsh ’89 MA takes on the role of Vice President for University Communication and Marketing starting August 17, 2026. This decision concludes an extensive national search that brought forth many qualified candidates. Walsh, known for her extensive experience in integrated marketing and communication within higher education, emerged as the standout choice.
Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, President of Villanova University, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am pleased to welcome Liz back to Villanova in this important leadership role. Liz’s deep understanding of Villanova, her strategic vision, and her demonstrated leadership at the Cabinet level distinguished her throughout the search process. Her expertise in reputation management, executive communications, and institutional positioning will be invaluable as Villanova continues to advance its mission and strategic priorities.”
In her new capacity, Walsh will join the President’s Cabinet and lead the University’s consolidated communication and marketing efforts. Her responsibilities will encompass public relations, marketing, web, social media, and more. She will also provide strategic advice on issues such as brand management and public affairs, all while working to enhance Villanova’s prominence and articulate its narrative as part of the strategic plan, Rooted. Restless.
Walsh comes from St. Joseph’s University, where she served as Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications. There, she oversaw initiatives in marketing, enrollment, and financial aid, and played a crucial role in shaping the university’s strategic positioning and communication strategies.
Her previous tenure at Villanova University from 2007 to 2021 saw her as Associate Vice President for University Communication and Marketing. During this period, she contributed significantly to enhancing the University’s communication infrastructure and managing its brand during times of growth. As an alumna and parent of Villanova graduates, Walsh brings a personal connection to her professional commitment.

Walsh holds a Bachelor of Arts in English/Communications from the University of Scranton, obtained in 1987, and earned her Master of Arts in Theatre from Villanova University in 1989.
