Madison, Wis. – Efforts to recover from last week’s severe weather are ongoing, with the Wisconsin State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) actively supporting the affected regions.
In collaboration with county and tribal emergency managers, the SEOC is working on response and recovery measures statewide. So far, it has handled 51 requests for resources, primarily for sandbagging support, and has also provided assistance with GIS and damage assessment personnel.
Operating at a Level 2, the SEOC is coordinating with multiple state and nonprofit organizations, including:
- Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs
- Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
- Wisconsin Department of Health Services
- Wisconsin Department of Transportation
- Salvation Army
- American Red Cross
The SEOC advises those affected by the disaster to stay informed through local updates and to use 2-1-1 Wisconsin for reporting damage or accessing cleanup and recovery resources.
As soon as it is safe, affected individuals should document damage to their homes, vehicles, and belongings with clear photos and videos, capturing multiple angles and noting dates and times. Additionally, a list of damaged items, including any spoiled food from prolonged power outages, should be compiled.
Contacting insurance providers promptly is critical for initiating claims. Further details on insurance matters related to flooding and post-storm procedures are available at the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance via oci.wi.gov.
For any issues with insurance representatives, individuals can lodge complaints by contacting the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance at 1-800-236-8517 or visiting oci.wi.gov/Complaints.
