U.S. Central Command Refutes Iranian Missile Strike on USS Abraham Lincoln
In a recent development regarding tensions in the Arabian Sea, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has firmly countered Iranian claims of a missile strike on the USS Abraham Lincoln. The incident, involving the San Diego-based aircraft carrier, has brought the ongoing conflict in the region into sharp focus.
According to a statement released by CENTCOM, the USS Abraham Lincoln remained unscathed by the alleged Iranian missile attack. “The Lincoln was not hit,” the statement clarified. “The missiles launched didn’t even come close. The Lincoln continues to launch aircraft in support of CENTCOM’s relentless campaign to defend the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had previously asserted that it successfully breached the carrier’s air defenses, claiming to have struck the nuclear-powered vessel with four missiles. The USS Abraham Lincoln, a significant asset in the U.S.-Israel offensive against Iran, is accompanied by a formidable escort of eight warships. This fleet includes six Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, specifically designed to intercept and neutralize incoming missile threats.
