Florida Approves $27.4M to Protect Over 21,500 Acres of Conservation Land

Significant Land Conservation Efforts Approved by Florida Officials

In a move to bolster environmental conservation and preserve agricultural lands, Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, alongside the state cabinet, has sanctioned the protection of over 21,500 acres. This decision involves investments amounting to $27.4 million under the Florida Forever and Rural and Family Lands Protection Program initiatives. These measures aim to enhance the state’s conservation landscape, support military operations, and safeguard family-owned farms.

Governor Ron DeSantis emphasized the administration’s commitment to environmental preservation, stating, “From day one, my administration has recognized the importance of preserving Florida’s environment for future generations.” This initiative focuses on ensuring clean water, aiding military readiness, and maintaining Florida’s natural charm.

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson remarked on the significance of these efforts, saying, “Protecting Florida’s agricultural and conservation lands means keeping it in the hands of the families who work them.” He highlighted the importance of supporting the rural economy and conservation endeavors.

Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Alexis A. Lambert, noted, “Florida Forever continues to deliver transformative conservation outcomes for our state,” underscoring the impact of these initiatives in protecting ecosystems and water resources.
