Former WBRC Reporter Christina Chambers Found Dead in Murder-Suicide

In a quiet Alabama community, the tragic discovery of two lifeless individuals in their home has sent shockwaves through Hoover. Christina Chambers, a former sports reporter, along with her husband Johnny Rimes, were found dead in what authorities suspect to be a murder-suicide. Meanwhile, their young child remains safe and unscathed.

Discovery of the Incident

The Hoover Police Department received a call just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, alerting them to the scene where Chambers and Rimes were found unresponsive. A family member made the grim discovery, prompting immediate police intervention. Both were pronounced dead at the location, but further details about the shooting have not been disclosed by the authorities.

Remembering Christina Chambers

Chambers, who joined WBRC Channel 6 in 2015, was renowned for her enthusiastic coverage of high school football events and her passion for running marathons. Her contributions to journalism were notable, and her sudden passing has left the WBRC community in mourning.

“She was one of the sweetest, most loving people that I know,” said WBRC anchor Jeh Jeh Pruitt. “She was relentless with running, loving her son, and loving life. I am glad I got a chance to hug and tell her I love her a week ago at the Super 7. I am so sorry for her family, the Chambers and Thompson families, and her WBRC Family.”

Career and Legacy

Chambers’ career in sports reporting spanned various roles, including previous positions at WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama, and WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia. She also contributed to Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta and worked in corporate communications for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. Although she stepped down from her full-time position in 2021, she continued to engage with high school football coverage on a part-time basis, leaving a lasting impact on the community she served.
