In a competitive matchup on Monday night, the Norfolk State women’s basketball team faced a setback, falling 72-57 to Georgia Tech. This result marked the conclusion of the Spartans’ recent two-game victory streak.
Jasha Clinton was a standout for the Spartans, contributing 18 points, alongside three rebounds, three steals, and five assists. Despite Norfolk State’s early lead, they ended the first quarter trailing 20-16.
Georgia Tech’s Talayah Walker delivered an impressive performance, scoring 20 points and securing 13 rebounds, complemented by five assists. This victory helped the Yellow Jackets snap a four-game losing streak, which included defeats by Georgia, St. John’s, Florida, and Texas A&M. Georgia Tech significantly widened their lead by halftime, outscoring the Spartans 28-12 in the second quarter, leading 48-28.
For Norfolk State, LeAire Nicks added 10 points and six rebounds to the scoreboard, while Ciara Bailey and Jenesis Hill each contributed seven points.
The Spartans, currently holding a 1-6 record in away games, are set to return to their home court for an Education Day game. They will face Dillard of New Orleans, a lower-level team, at 11 a.m. on December 11 at Echols Hall.
