Residents in Dallas should prepare for changes in city services as Presidents Day approaches. On Monday, February 16, 2026, several city facilities will not be operational due to the observance of the holiday. Here’s what you need to know about these schedule modifications.
City Offices
All city offices will be non-operational on Presidents Day.
Libraries
Though physical library branches will be closed, DallasLibrary.org remains accessible 24/7. Residents can enjoy audiobooks, e-books, music, and magazines anytime.
Recreation Centers
Expect closures at administrative offices, maintenance facilities, and recreation centers.
Dallas Water Utilities
The administrative and customer service sectors of Dallas Water Utilities will be shut. For urgent water service needs, dial 3-1-1. Non-urgent issues can be reported online or via the Dallas 311 mobile app for iOS and Android.
Animal Services
While administrative offices will be closed, the shelter will function as usual, with Animal Services Officers handling requests through 3-1-1.
3-1-1 Customer Help Line
The 311 line will remain active for issues like water main breaks or animal control. Water Customer Service, however, will be closed. Service requests can also be submitted online or on mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Police and Fire Services
While administrative offices for both the police and fire departments will be closed, regular operations will continue uninterrupted.
Court & Detention Services
The Municipal Courts will not be available for in-person services. However, mail payments will be accepted, and online transactions can be made at www.dallascityhall.com. The Dallas Marshal’s Office will continue processing payments and bonds without disruption.
Sanitation Services
Despite the closure of administrative offices, all waste collection services, including recycling and garbage pickup, will proceed as scheduled. The McCommas Bluff Landfill and transfer stations will be open. For more details, visit dsan.us/disposalinfo.
Office of Arts and Culture
All cultural centers and administrative offices under the Office of Arts and Culture will be closed for the holiday, resuming normal hours on February 17, 2026. The Juanita J. Craft Civil Rights House & Museum will reopen on February 18, 2026.
