One Book Quilt Celebrates 20 Years of Reading in Philadelphia

Wynnefield Library Celebrates Literary Community with Unique Quilt Exhibit

As One Book, One Philadelphia wraps up its current season, a remarkable piece of its history is now being showcased at the Wynnefield Library. Since its inception in 2003, this initiative has been pivotal in fostering unity among Philadelphians through shared reading experiences and discussions.

In a tribute to the program’s 20th season in 2022, the Wynnefield Library community crafted a stunning One Book quilt. This creative endeavor was spearheaded by Frances Conwell, a member of Friends of Wynnefield Library and the president/co-founder of Sisters Interacting Through Stitches. Together with Free Library staff, community members, and local organizations, Frances orchestrated the creation of quilt segments, each symbolizing one of the program’s annual book selections over its two-decade history. Frances and her colleagues from Sisters Interacting Through Stitches meticulously assembled these pieces into a cohesive quilt.
