ROCKY MOUNT – Many N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles offices have resumed operations following a global IT outage that disrupted services earlier today.
The interruption affected all 115 driver license offices, which have since reopened and are now accommodating walk-in clients. The NCDMV is actively working to rebook appointments that were missed due to the morning’s technical issues.
However, most license plate agencies, operated independently under the supervision of the NCDMV, will stay closed and are scheduled to resume services on Monday.
For the latest updates on the status of any NCDMV office, the public is encouraged to visit MyNCDMV.gov.
The IT outage was reportedly triggered by a failed software update executed by CrowdStrike.
