New Respite Center to Open in Cabarrus County with NCDHHS Support
On March 25, media representatives are invited to witness the opening of the latest initiative by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) in Cabarrus County. The Promise Resource Network’s (PRN) new respite center is set to provide a sanctuary for individuals seeking a peaceful environment to recuperate and regain stability.
The NCDHHS has invested $998,683 into this promising project, aiming to enhance mental health services in the region. Kelly Crosbie, the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Disorders at NCDHHS, will address attendees during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Promise Resource Network, a peer-led organization based in Mecklenburg County, extends its reach with the new center, complementing its existing Recovery Cafes in Charlotte and Raleigh, along with other respite centers in the Triangle. PRN also manages the Statewide Peer Warmline, which connects those in need with Peer Support Specialists. This service works alongside the North Carolina 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline to support individuals in crisis.
