Dr. Daniel Moore Nominated to State Health Plan Board of Trustees

Veteran Doctor Nominated to State Health Plan Board

In a significant move to enhance the expertise within the State Health Plan Board of Trustees, Treasurer Brad Briner has put forward Dr. Daniel Moore’s nomination. Dr. Moore, a seasoned physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, is based in Greenville and brings over 20 years of academic experience from the East Carolina University School of Medicine to the table.

Dr. Moore is set to replace Judge Wilton “Rusty” Duke, Jr., whose term concludes on June 30th. Highlighting the importance of having a practicing physician on the Board, Treasurer Briner remarked, “The addition of another practicing physician on the Board will bring invaluable insights on the challenges in healthcare today.” His optimism about Dr. Moore’s future contributions is evident as he emphasized the ongoing efforts to address affordability, sustainability, and access to care for the 750,000 members served by the Plan.

While expressing gratitude to Judge Duke, Briner acknowledged his pivotal role over the past year. “We want to thank Judge Duke for his dedication and acumen on the Board. We have faced some tough decisions over the last year, and he has helped us deliberate and navigate the Plan out of a critical financial position,” Briner stated.

Furthermore, Dr. Brian Miller will continue to serve as Vice-Chair, following Treasurer Briner’s decision to re-appoint him for another term, ensuring continuity in the Board’s leadership.
