BLM Calls for Public Feedback on Wild Horse Management in Eagle Complex
ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is inviting public input on the management strategy for wild horses within the Eagle Complex, a trio of herd management areas. Situated across Nevada and Utah, these areas are overseen by the Caliente Field Office and the Cedar City Field Office, respectively. The specific zones include the Eagle area in Nevada, along with the Mount Elinor and Choke Cherry areas in Utah.
The wild horse population within the Eagle Complex currently surpasses the established appropriate management level, which is set between 145 and 265 horses. As of March 2026, estimates indicate that approximately 2,093 wild horses inhabit the area. This overpopulation poses a threat to the habitats, potentially leading to starvation and thirst among the wild horse communities.
For those interested in contributing their thoughts, further details are accessible via the BLM National NEPA Register.
