BLM Seeks Feedback on Lamoille Summit Trail System in Nevada

Lamoille Summit Trail System Proposal Open for Public Comment

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is inviting public input on the proposed Lamoille Summit Trail System, which is strategically positioned between Elko and Spring Creek, Nevada. This initiative aims to develop three trailhead/parking areas and approximately 47 miles of trails, accommodating both non-motorized activities and limited motorized use for class 1 e-bikes, on BLM-managed lands.

Anticipated to enhance recreational opportunities, the project includes provisions for hiking, biking, equestrian activities, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. To aid in public awareness and information dissemination, the installation of kiosks and interpretive signs at trailheads and along the trails is planned. The development is intended to complement existing and proposed bike lanes along the Lamoille Highway (SR277).

Those interested in learning more can access additional details, including the preliminary environmental assessment, via the BLM National NEPA Register. Public comments can be submitted through the ‘Participate Now’ feature on the site. Alternatively, comments may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to the BLM Tuscarora Field Office, Attn: Lamoille Summit Trail System, 3900 E Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801. The deadline for comment submission is August 4, 2025.
