The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has officially approved the realignment of State Route 361 in Nevada, a significant step forward supporting military infrastructure enhancements. This initiative is aligned with the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act, specifically focusing on the modernization of the Fallon Range Training Complex at the Naval Air Station in Fallon.
Extensive analysis was conducted through the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Environmental Assessment (EA) under the project identifier FHWA-NV-EA-25-03. Key outcomes of this assessment include:
- BLM’s adoption of the FHWA EA (FHWA-NV-EA-25-03) resulted in a Finding of No Significance, indicating minimal environmental impact.
- A right‑of‑way (ROW) will be granted to the FHWA and the Nevada Department of Transportation, encompassing 630 acres under the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920.
Before construction can commence, a Notice to Proceed must be issued by the BLM. The project will unfold across public lands in Churchill, Mineral, and Nye County, Nevada, adhering to the guidelines of the Carson City Field Office Consolidated Resource Management Plan established in May 2001.
