Community Gathered for Health and Safety Insights at Detroit Fair

The vibrant city of Detroit is set to host an engaging event aimed at enhancing community safety and preparedness. On Saturday, June 13, from noon to 3 p.m., the Emergency Preparedness, Health & Safety Fair will take place at Kemeny Recreation Center at 2260 S. Fort Street. The event is orchestrated by the Detroit Local Emergency Planning Committee in collaboration with Marathon.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into safeguarding their families and community through a variety of emergency preparedness, health, and safety demonstrations. Esteemed organizations such as the Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, the Detroit Police Department, and the Detroit Fire Department will be present, alongside private entities like Marathon and DTE. A special feature at the fair will be services from the Michigan Humane Society, offering low-cost pet vaccines and complimentary pet food. To benefit from these services, residents must pre-schedule their appointments by calling 866-648-6263.

The fair promises a wealth of activities, including demonstrations on safety practices and emergency preparedness. Visitors can also participate in CPR/AED sessions and get their blood pressure checked. Additionally, there is an opportunity to register for emergency notifications from the City of Detroit and Marathon. For families, the event will offer a range of activities for children, including a Bouncy House, and everyone can enjoy treats from free food trucks.

Gratitude goes to the numerous agencies and sponsors making this event possible, including the Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, Marathon, Little Caesars Arena, Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Police Department, DTE, PVS, Wayne State University, the Detroit Health Department, Michigan Humane Society, and the Detroit Community Emergency Response Team.
