Free Online Parenting and Professional Development Classes in March

Extension Extra’s Parenting Hour

MSU Extension offers free online workshops aimed at supporting parents through various parenting challenges and achievements. Participants can choose to attend any or all of these sessions, held every Tuesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 PM ET:

Parenting Series

Guiding Principles for Highly Successful Parenting

This five-week series is designed for parents seeking to foster cooperation, establish routines, manage emotional challenges, and implement effective discipline. Attendees can earn MIRegistry Credit and a certificate of attendance.

Building Early Emotional Skills

Targeting caregivers of children aged 0-3, this four-week program focuses on developing social-emotional skills in young children. Participants will learn to manage stress, understand temperament, handle tantrums, and more. MIRegistry Credit and certificates of attendance are provided.

Early Childhood Professional Development Classes

These free online workshops offer professional development credits for early childhood educators. MIRegistry Credit is available for all classes.

Understanding a Toddler’s World

Explore a toddler’s perspective with this insightful session. Register here.

In-Person Workshop: Including All of Us

Positive Discipline

This course offers insights into fostering self-control in children through appropriate environments and experiences. Available in both “parent and caregiver” and “professional” tracks, it provides MIRegistry Credit and a certificate of attendance.

Infant Safety

In collaboration with the Livingston County Child Abuse Prevention Council, this course covers safe sleep, crying management, and safe transport for infants. Certificates and MIRegistry Credit are available.

MI Parenting Resource

Designed to bolster parent-child relationships statewide, this online program provides strategies for encouraging positive child behavior.

Kindness Counts: Teaching Children Prosocial Skills that Stick

This session provides research-based methods for encouraging prosocial behavior and emotional growth in childcare settings.
