Key elements of the agreement include the removal of the lowest wage step, allowing new recruits to start at a higher salary. Additionally, officers will receive a 7% salary increase for the current fiscal year, effective retroactively from July 1, 2025, followed by 6% raises in both 2026 and 2027.

The Flint Patrol Officers Association unanimously approved the agreement, highlighting the strong partnership between the city and its police force.

Michael Forystek, vice president of the Flint Patrol Officers Association, remarked, “My father and grandfather were Flint police officers. This is the only time anyone can remember that we’ve ever had a unanimous vote.”

Mayor Neeley emphasized the importance of the agreement, saying, “Our officers put their lives on the line for Flint every single day. This agreement honors their service, strengthens our ability to recruit and retain top talent, and reinforces our commitment to building a safer, stronger Flint for all.”
