UF Suspends Krishna Lunch Service After Student Injured in Accident

In an unexpected decision, the University of Florida has halted the popular on-campus meal service from the Hare Krishna, a tradition for over 50 years. This move has left many students and staff seeking clarity on the future of this beloved service.

The Hare Krishna community, known for serving meals at the Plaza of the Americas, shared the news of the suspension on their Instagram page earlier this week. The announcement has stirred discussions across campus, given the long-standing history of the service.

Details about the suspension were confirmed by the Independent Florida Alligator, revealing that the decision will remain effective until further notice. The underlying reason for this action was an unfortunate incident on February 23, where a Krishna box truck was involved in an accident, hitting a female student at a crosswalk. The student was subsequently hospitalized with several broken bones.

The suspension has raised questions about campus safety and the future of the Krishna lunch service, which has been a staple for many at the university for decades.
