Renowned Author Rachel Yoder to Visit Drake University
Drake University is preparing for an inspiring evening as it welcomes acclaimed author Rachel Yoder to its campus. The event, part of the Susan Glaspell Writers & Critics Series, is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Cowles Library Reading Room. Yoder’s debut novel, Nightbitch, which has been turned into a major film featuring Amy Adams, will be the focal point of the discussion.
According to Yasmina Madden, Associate Professor of English, “We are thrilled to welcome Rachel Yoder to campus. It’s especially meaningful to host a writer who is part of Iowa’s vibrant literary community and who demonstrates the incredible depth of talent right here in our state.” The event aims to inspire both students and the local community by connecting them with leading literary figures.
The evening will feature a reading by Yoder, followed by a conversation about her novel’s adaptation into a film. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book. The event is co-sponsored by Drake’s Women’s and Gender Studies program and The Center for the Humanities.
