LANSING, Mich. – In a significant development for Michigan’s manufacturing sector, Menco, LLC is set to relocate its machining facility from Wisconsin to Mellen Township, located in Menominee County. This strategic move is anticipated to bring a minimum of $1.2 million in investment and create 13 well-paying jobs in the region.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer remarked on the occasion, highlighting Michigan’s competitive edge in attracting major projects across next-generation industries. “Michigan is on the move and open for business, competing for and winning big projects in next-generation industries,” she stated. “Today’s announcement will create 13 new good-paying jobs and help cement Michigan as the best place for manufacturing. Let’s keep working together to show the world that Michigan is the best place to build the future.”
Matt McCauley, Senior Vice President of Regional Development at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, emphasized the company’s dedication to fostering economic growth in the Upper Peninsula. “Today’s announcement reflects the company’s commitment to investing in hardworking communities and building long-term economic opportunity in the region,” he said. “By establishing their operations here, they are creating good-paying jobs and contributing to the growth and stability of the Upper Peninsula. Welcome to Team Michigan!”
Menco, LLC, a CNC machining and custom fabrication business, was established in Wisconsin in 2021. The relocation to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will allow the company to consolidate operations and enhance its capabilities with new machinery and equipment, thereby improving its service to both current and new customers.
Adam Menor, General Manager of Menco LLC, expressed optimism about the move: “I’m looking forward to moving to Michigan and continuing to grow Menco LLC. Thanks to Team Michigan, as they were easy to work with and made the decision to move to Michigan easier.”
The relocation is supported by a Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant of $100,000, facilitated by the Michigan Strategic Fund. Additionally, Michigan Works! is assisting with talent recruitment and workforce development, offering resources valued at approximately $188,754. InvestUP is also contributing to the project with personnel and resources.
Marty Fittante, CEO of InvestUP, expressed gratitude for the support received: “We are grateful to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for awarding Menco LLC a $100,000 Business Development Program grant. This investment accelerates the expansion from Wisconsin into Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and strengthens the company’s commitment to creating long term economic opportunity in Menominee County. We’re honored by MEDC’s confidence in this vision and excited to build a future that benefits both the company and the community.”
While Menco considered another location in Wisconsin, Michigan’s proactive support and tailored solutions for small businesses ultimately secured their decision to move.
